Runners from Kenya and China dominated today's Beijing Marathon, with Kenyan athletes finishing in the top three men's spots and Chinese athletes winning the top three women's spots, the China Daily reports. Mugo Samuel, who took home the men's title with a time of 2:08:20, seized the lead from teammate Nicholas Manza with four kilometers remaining in the race. Manza finished second with 2:08:42, and Barus Benson came in third at 2:08:51. The women's competition was won by Olympic champion Bai Xue at a time of 2:34:44, just seconds ahead of second place finisher Zhang Xin, who came in at 2:34:49. Zhu Xiaolin took third place in the women's race with a final time of 2:34:55. The Beijing Marathon starts in the city center at Tian'anmen Square and weaves its way through the city's northwestern Haidian district before concluding in dramatic fashion at the finish line in the Bird's Nest Olympic Stadium. "It's nice to win the race," champion Mugo Samuel told reporters, "Beijing Marathon is a big one and very international."
